When you’re looking for paint for your space, look at the LRV rating this stands for the light reflective value of the paint. This controls the amount of heat and light that is absorbed or reflected depending on its value.
- Anything with a rating from 0 to 50 is going to absorb light and create a lot of warmth. About 50 to 100 is going to reflect that light and actually reduce the amount of heat that stays in the room.
- A low LRV rating is great for the majority of the spaces because it absorbs a majority of light and you get that true color that you pick for your space.
- If you have a room with a lot of natural light, avoid anything with a high LRV rating otherwise it’s going to look almost overexposed.
- The general rule is that the lower the number will be the warmer it will be and the higher the number the color it will be.
