Grounding Techniques Single Men Can Try When Dealing With Anxiety

I know life right now is so uncertain and every time you turn on the news it’s a new report about a new Covid variant, Monkey Pox, inflation, noise of another recession, and whatever else is coming around the corner, this type of stuff can make your anxiety rise. If this happens try a grounding technique.

What is a grounding technique? 

It is a coping skill that typically involves an element of mindfulness, which is a practice that uses the five senses to connect with the present moment.

Ok look around your bachelor pad:

1. Find something you can see

Observe something and focus on it’s color, shape, size, and texture. Becoming focused and aware of the details can help you feel grounded. You can also count all the objects in a room that are all the same color or all the objects that are shaped the same. 

2. Find something you can touch

Having something physically you can touch can help you feel grounded and calm. Try squeezing, rolling, or tossing something for a few minutes or until you feel better.

3. Find something you can hear

Music is always a good idea when you’re dealing with anxiety because the right song can instantly change your mood. Make an anxiety playlist with songs that make you feel at ease and play them when shit gets uneasy.

4. Find something you can smell

Whether it’s essential oils, your fave cologne, a candle, etc… smelling things will help you feel grounded. Close your eyes, take a deep breath of your fave scent and become aware of exactly what it smells like and how it makes you feel.

5. Find something you can taste

Ever heard of comfort food? Yeah it’s a real thing. When you eat something that tastes good it makes you feel good, most comfort food isn’t diet-friendly so you may have to find what works for you if you live a healthy lifestyle.
